Day 11: Saturday April 21

We are on the boat taking the World Heritage ferry route to the island of Miyajima.

The Ota River

It felt like I had to duck.

I'm definitely ducking for this one.

Another one of the ubiquitous golf driving ranges.

Same type of boat as we were on.

Hiroshima is the oyster capital of Japan.

Oyster processing.

The next few shots have a blue tinge as they were taken behind tinted glass.

We arrived at Miyajima.

Deer roam the island.

It's a kite, not an eagle.

The famous 'floating' O-Torri Gate

We tried the red bean paste, chocolate, green bean paste and custard ones.

Bum whackers are popular on Miyajima.

Luke and I had the sea eel steamed bun.

World's biggest bum whacker.

Had to try an Hiroshima fresh oyster.

Dog or fashion accessory?

Grilled squid.

Grilled tongue.

Deep fried oyster.

Cruella de Vil

Wood carvings

This is the bus we were on and that gully is deep.

We are headed up Mt. Misen

You can see the oyster farms.

?????

That's a boat.

That's the O-Torri Gate at low tide.

I got very close to this one. They are spectacular in flight.

We caught this ferry.
