We are immersing ourselves in Japanese culture.
This was our apartment in Hiroshima.
The Japanese have small apartments with very large sinks.
This was outside the Hiroshima train station.
Oysters on a stick.
Not your typical Aussie snacks.
There were several information volunteers at the station.
He takes his job on the Shinkansen very seriously.
From Hiroshima to Osaka.
They're not bad photos considering we were travelling at 300km an hour.
A train in Osaka.
Our apartment in Osaka.
This is the view from our apartment.
The Dotonbori River
Dotonbori is amazing. We are a two minute walk from this street which is parallel to the river.
A theatre. Dotonbori was once the theatre district.
That's a ferris wheel on the left.
I'd gone for a stroll to capture the previous photos and couldn't resist this cafe for two of my favourite things.
Didn't see anyone go in to Bar Dope.
Duck heads and chicken feet anyone?
This was in the elevator of our apartment.
Double decker bike racks.
Dotonbori at night.
We are in for a feast of Japan's famous okonomiyaki.
They are a savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients.
We ate them on the 3rd floor of this restaurant.
Osaka is the birthplace of takoyaki, otherwise known as octopus balls. We had to try them.
I loved them but the kids were less impressed.
This is outside a fugu (puffer fish) restaurant. It has to be prepared in a special way or you die from their poison. Chefs train for years to learn how to prepare it.
This is a museum dedicated to takoyaki
This is less than half of this shopping arcade.
That's a real dove.
It was warm and cosy inside.
WTF?
