Day 8: Wednesday April 18

A genuine Geisha/Geiko.

Fake Geishas.

Another bride on the river bank.

Today's random item to photograph. The Roadrunner, not Luke.

I was crossing the Kamo River and this large kite put on a great display looking for food. It was harassed away by two smaller birds.

This guy was working in his garage a few doors down from us.

We lost count of how many times she was asked for a photograph.

Ukiyoe is a traditional Japanese painting style that uses carved wooden blocks to print with and recreate works. This is Ichimura Mamoru, who is one of around 50 artists of this kind left in Japan and started his training at the age of 14. We bought two of his prints.

Yasaka Pagoda

Luke bought this.
