Day 2: Thursday April 12

I feel like I'm staying in the house of the Seven Dwarfs.

The view from our balcony. It's a 4 minute walk to Yoyogi station.

Outside our apartment.

That's a violin shop on the ground floor of our apartment.

That's a decibel counter for a construction site.

These 3 were very grateful when we gave up our seats for them. They are tiny.

Men fishing the canal.

A sumo demonstration and lunch. It is owned by the guy in the photo who was a former high ranking sumo wrestler.

This guy was also a sumo wrestler and has lost 50kg since retiring.

Two recently retired sumo wrestlers.

This guy was in the Mitsubishi 'not so squeezy' commercial and has also appeared in ads with a couple of super models.

This guy was in the Jetstar commercial below.

It's my turn.

Time to take him down.

Now for a traditional sumo wrestler lunch.

You pull the string and it takes 7 minutes to cook the dish.

Traditional sumo soup. It was delicious.

The page I am holding has the names of 700 sumo champions.

The Sumidagawa River

Akihabara Electric Town

The kids convinced me that a Japanese McDonalds experience is compulsory.

McDonalds home delivery.

Didn't cost Kate a cent.

I think I'll get the degital perm.

A trip to the local supermarket.

Japanese beer.

We have no idea what this is.

They love their super white eggs.

Iced coffee? No, milk tea.

Heading out for dinner for Irene's birthday.

The very trendy Roppongi.

Dinner is at the Grand Hyatt which is the building in the background.

Probably Australian Wagyu.

Sake

Thank you Chef Azusa Endo

We wandered the streets of Roppongi.

Tokyo Tower

I didn't.
